Welcoming a new bundle of joy into your life is such an exciting time! It’s also an incredibly detailed and daunting process. What will they be like? What will you need? Where do you start? While I encountered dozen of online opinions on the topic, I have finally identified the five nursery essentials that I don’t think I would have been able to live without when we brought our baby home. Ubbi Baby Diaper Pail

Let’s face it, babies poop and pee. A lot! Everyone needs a diaper genie and the Ubbi Baby Diaper Pail has not let us down. Not only does it do the job of keeping stinky smells to a minimum, it uses regular kitchen trash bags. As the costs stacked up for our bougie little baby, this was an absolute game changer. No crazy spending or special trips for costly cartridges definitely made me fall in love with this poop packing pail!

Himalayan Salt Lamp

I definitely underestimated the many midnight escapades we’d be dealing with in our little one’s nursery. While there are some things that need to be taken care of (cough poop, cough) at the wee hours of the night, we did our best not to stimulate baby too much in the hopes that they would fall back asleep (and they did!). We loved the addition of a Himalayan pink salt lamp  to our baby’s room. Not only does it add a cute design touch, the color of the light keeps you and your baby calm and collected since there’s no blue light emitted. There are a million different styles of these salt lamps but we opted for a sphere for something a little bit different. A little hint: make sure you buy one with a dimmer!

OXO Tot Perfect Pull Wipe Dispenser

There’s never a shortage of things to do with a baby around and you’ll find yourself wishing you had a third hand! While parents can’t yet buy another appendage, the Oxo Wipe Dispenser is honestly the next best thing! It holds approximately two packs of wipes and it opens and close with one hand which is a luxury in the baby changing setting!

The NoseFrida Snotsucker

Sounds appetizing doesn’t it? Okay, this is a polarizing pick amongst parents but I’m here to tell you that you need  the NoseFrida Snotsucker in your nursery essentials toolkit. When your baby spits up through their nose at 1:00am and is wailing the night away, you will forego your disgust, whip this contraption out, do the dirty, and find yourself slumbering again in no time. You won’t be sorry to have this in your bag of tricks!

Ava+Oliver Vegan Changing Mat

We opted not to use a changing table and instead change our little one the floor of their nursery. We absolutely love the look and functionality of the Ava+Oliver changing mat. It has the appearance of beautiful leather but cleans up like nobody’s business. It also doubles as our diaper bag changing mat since it rolls up pretty nicely – gotta love a two birds situation, am I right?
